iDevices Adds SMT Line To Engineering Lab
So, what does a SMT line do? That’s what we asked our engineers too, so don’t think you’re the only one who doesn’t know!
SMT is short for Surface Mount Technology. Radio-Electronics.com explains that, “SMT is used almost exclusively for the manufacture of electronic circuit boards these days. They are smaller, often offer a better level of performance and they can be used with anautomated pick and place machine that in many cases all but eliminate the need for manual intervention in the assembly process.”
Without the need to assemble electronic circuit boards by hand, our engineers can focus their attention on other new and exciting projects. The boards that iDevices populates on the SMT line are made quickly and accurately. Having a SMT line at iDevices allows us to have full working prototype boards in less than a week once we send our design files to the circuit board manufacturer. This allows us to move very fast and get products to the market faster. We take care of every service in-house, from industrial design, to electrical and software engineering, to UX and app development, so time is precious here at iDevices!
