Here's what we've been up to at iDevices...
If you have an iPhone, you’re probably familiar with or have used Siri, Apple’s handy voice assistant.
You can use Siri on any of your Apple devices to control HomeKit products, like iDevices smart switches, outlets, and thermostat. Siri can see all of your HomeKit-compatible accessories set up in the Home app, and identifies them by name and location. You can use Siri to turn your products on or off, adjust brightness, change the temperature, control entire rooms at once, and set custom scenes.
Beyond the confines of your smart home
If you're a fan of the Apple ecosystem, using Siri to control your smart home makes a ton of sense. Thankfully, this voice assistant isn’t just limited to working within the walls of your home. The premise of using Siri to control your smart home from anywhere makes perfect sense, since there’s rarely a moment you don’t have an Apple product with or on you.
You can use Siri to control iDevices products right out of the box. An Apple home hub is necessary to use Siri to control your smart home products remotely. Simply set up your HomePod, iPad, or Apple TV (4K, 4th Gen, or 3rd Gen) as a home hub and you're ready to use Siri to control your smart home products from anywhere in the world.
Siri on the go
There are so many ways you can take advantage of Siri on the go; leaving the office, heading out of the house in a hurry, or keeping an eye on another property, for example.
In almost any situation, Siri can lend a hand. Are you one to take walks or bike rides to a local park? Set up a “heading to the park” scene on the iDevices Connected app that dims certain lights, lowers the temperature, and locks your front door (HomeKit-compatible door lock necessary).
As you leave home, just tell Siri you're heading to the park and walk away grateful you didn’t waste 10 minutes adjusting everything manually. Set up a “back from the park” scene so as soon as you’re in the neighborhood, you can tell Siri to unlock the front door, brighten the lights, and increase the temperature. This is just one of countless ways you can use Siri on the go.
