Here's what we've been up to at iDevices...
Instinct is designed with privacy features so you can enjoy whole-home voice control with confidence. While we want Instinct to hear you loud and clear so you never have to scream just to get Alexa’s attention, we also want you to be able to disconnect when you feel like it.
‘Mute’ Alexa
Instinct includes a handy mute button directly on the switch. It’s the little button on the bottom left of Instinct. Press this button and the Echo-style ring behind Instinct’ paddle will turn red. This tells you Instinct won’t respond when you say “Alexa.” When Instinct is muted, Alexa won’t listen, record, or send your request to Amazon’s secure cloud. Learn how to mute Instinct here.
When Alexa is recording and sending your request to Amazon, you’ll know. The Echo-style ring within Instinct will turn blue. When the ring is spinning, Alexa is processing your request.
Encryption is key
iDevices doesn’t store or record any Alexa commands or personal data, other than what you provide us so we can communicate with you (e.g. your email address if you register Instinct). All of your interactions with the Instinct Switch app (used for setup only), Alexa, and iDevices in general are encrypted. All interactions with Alexa are encrypted in transit to Amazon’s cloud.
Delete your voice recordings
View, hear, and delete your voice recordings at anytime here, or within the Amazon Alexa app. You can also delete by voice with commands like ”Alexa, delete what I just said” or “Alexa, delete everything I said today.” Make sure you enable deletion by voice command within privacy settings in the app.
